This was partly inspired by all the old platformers we all played growing up and partly by some really weird carrot drawings on the wall of the McDonald’s where we stopped to grab a bite. The “art” was done in Illustrator, and the animation and finishing in After Effects. We had to break the game level up into three pieces due to some art board size limitations in Illustrator. In retrospect we could have done it all in a single artboard, but then we would have been working in Illustrator at 1/6 scale instead of at 1/2 scale. We kept on continuous rasterization in After Effects so we could scale it up to full size and keep the crisp edges of the vector art. Also ran a sharpen filter on it to make the fruits and veggies even crispier!
